Holo-Foil Vendetta Runes: Six Promos from the Chinese Print

A photo posted this morning on r/riftboundtcg shows six Vendetta runes with holo foil across the whole card, one per domain. The collector line at the bottom edge reads VEN · R01 · P · SC, and right beside it sits a round PROMO seal: these are promotional prints in Simplified Chinese, and nothing matching them appears in the western catalogue. Riot Games has announced nothing, and the post never says which product or event they come from.

The postOne photo, two words of comment

The thread is titled "A clearer look at the new holo-foil runes (CN)" and was opened at 06:18 UTC by u/YogurtPancake on r/riftboundtcg. The body is a single line — "Absolutely gorgeous" — and everything else is in the picture: six cards fanned out on a Chinese playmat, shot close up at 4,284 × 5,712 pixels. That resolution is what makes the post worth anything: the edges are readable, and the edges are what tell you what these cards actually are.

The word "clearer" implies something blurrier had already gone around. For now, though, this is the only legible reproduction in circulation, and it comes from one community member — not a Riot channel, not an official gallery.

The cardsSix runes, one per domain

All six base runes are there, numbered R01 through R06: Fury, Calm, Mind, Body, Chaos and Order, in the same order Vendetta uses in Europe. The artwork is the standard rune, not the alternate art — same central sigil, same white name band, except the name is printed in Simplified Chinese. The credits at the bottom are the familiar ones, Greg Ghielmetti & Leah Chen, with a ©2026 RGI copyright line.

The difference is entirely in the finish. The foil is not confined to the domain sigil: it runs over the background, the frame and the name band, in a diamond pattern that shifts colour with the angle of the shot. On European Vendetta copies that surface is flat.

The detailThat P in the middle of the code

On the western print the collector line has three fields: VEN · R01 · EN — set, number, language. Here there are four: VEN · R01 · P · SC. The last one, SC, is the same marker seen on the Simplified Chinese cards that have surfaced in the Radiance previews over the past days. The P is the extra field, and the round seal stamped a little further along the same edge explains it: it reads PROMO.

Promotional runes already exist elsewhere — organized play has a set of them, and others have shipped as general promos — but those carry numbers from their own promo sets. Here the Vendetta numbering stays put and the P is added on top: a way of marking the card that has not shown up on these six runes before.

what is missing

The open questions

Which product or event they come from, whether the run is numbered or open, and if a comparable version ever ships outside China. The post does not say, and Riot has not commented.

Why it matters here. Runes are the one card type that goes into every single deck, and the Vendetta ones are the copies most Italian players actually sleeve: a holo-foil version that exists only in the Chinese print instantly becomes an import item, priced by the grey market rather than by any list. It is also one more entry in a pattern we have been tracking for weeks — the Gift of the Rift Kennen, the foil tokens in Chinese packs — where China gets finishes that never reach Europe. Until Riot says otherwise, collectors have to assume a "complete" Vendetta set is not the same object in every region.

The short version

  • Six Vendetta runes (R01-R06) with foil across the whole card, photographed on r/riftboundtcg on September 29.
  • The collector line reads VEN · R01 · P · SC and the edge carries a PROMO seal: Simplified Chinese promos.
  • No confirmation from Riot Games, and no information on product, print run or any release outside China.
