Los Angeles day 1: no Legend clears 9%

Kennen, Heart of the Tempest, second most played Legend at Regional Qualifier Los Angeles

Regional Qualifier Los Angeles opened on a far flatter field than the warm-up event that preceded it. Irelia, Blade Dancer is still the most played Legend, but she is down to 8.9% with 193 entries out of more than two thousand. Behind her, Kennen, Heart of the Tempest has overtaken Jayce, Defender of Tomorrow, 7.6% to 7.1%, and no Legend reaches 9%. The figures come from a standings-app screenshot posted on r/riftboundtcg by u/nic_bolas.

The numbersThe top four fall from 42% to 30%

The screen lists each Legend with its player count and its share of the field. The top four entries — Irelia, Kennen, Jayce and LeBlanc — add up to 661 entries, or 30.5% of the room. At the pre-Regional Qualifier played the day before, those same four slots were worth 42.4%. In twenty-four hours the concentration at the top shrank by almost twelve points.

Working back from the raw counts and the percentages, the main event field sits just above 2,100 players, the same order of magnitude as the warm-up. This is not a sample-size artefact: what changed is how players spread their choices.

The shiftJayce slides to third

The sharpest move belongs to Jayce, Defender of Tomorrow. He was the story of the warm-up, second at 10.9% with 217 entries; in the main event he drops to 7.1% and is passed by Kennen, Heart of the Tempest, who also loses ground, from 9.3% to 7.6%, yet gains a place. Irelia, Blade Dancer gives up the most in absolute terms, from 13.3% to 8.9%.

It all matches the reading that emerged after the September 18 bans and was repeated in Houston and across the Chinese City Challenges: the format no longer has one dominant Legend, it has a cluster of four strong picks and a long tail. From fifth place down, everything sits under 5%, with Rengar at 4.3% and Akali at 3.8%.

A caveatA screenshot, not a press release

One warning, because it is needed. This did not come from Riot: it is a standings-app screen photographed by a player and posted on Reddit, the same source that produced two non-matching counts for the warm-up event. Behind the dialog the labels «Round 1» and «Projected Meta» are visible, so this is the field as registered at the start of the tournament, not a result. Riot has published no official table for the main event, and until it does these numbers should be read as a snapshot — precise, but not certified.

Why it matters for us. This is the same format played in Italian stores and the one that will be played at the Madrid Regional Championship from February 5 to 7, 2027. Two thousand decklists are a sample no Italian tournament can produce, and they say something practical to anyone brewing right now: preparing for Irelia is not enough. You need plans against four different decks, because there is no single target at the top any more. The window is short, though — Radiance arrives on October 23 and joins the format.

The short version

  • Irelia is still first but at 8.9%: on day 1 in Los Angeles no Legend reaches 9%.
  • Kennen (7.6%) passes Jayce (7.1%), who was second at 10.9% a day earlier.
  • The top four picks are worth 30.5% of the field, down from 42.4% at the pre-Regional.
  • The data is a standings-app screenshot shared on Reddit, not an official Riot table.
