Gift of the Rift: the Chinese Kennen surfaces, unconfirmed

Kennen, Heart of the Tempest, the exclusive promo of the Chinese Gift of the Rift Bundle

An image of the exclusive promo from the Chinese version of the Gift of the Rift Bundle has been going around since this morning: a Kennen Legend called 狂暴之心, rendered by Riftbound Report as Heart of the Tempest, with collector number VEN 155a/166. It showed up first in a thread on r/riftboundtcg and then on the community account Riftbound Report, but Riot has not posted it on any official Western channel yet, so we are treating it as unconfirmed. Either way, the bundle reaching Italian shelves is the English one, the box with the Akali promo.

The cardKennen in surgical scrubs

The art shows Kennen dressed as a surgeon, instruments in hand and eyes locked on the patient, with a masked figure in a gown behind him: an open nod to the Kennen M.D. skin from League of Legends, the one half the thread immediately recognised in the comments. The collector line credits Zhongqi Li, with a ©2026RGI copyright, and ends with the tag SC where the English Akali promo reads P · EN — almost certainly the language marker, Simplified Chinese against English.

The textWhat it does, with a caveat

The card text only exists in Chinese and there is no official English or Italian wording yet, so what follows is our working translation and the final game terms may well read differently. The first ability empowers Kennen every time you play a card from somewhere other than your hand. The second one spends that build-up to give a unit an offensive bonus of 2 until the end of the turn. On paper it is a Legend that rewards decks able to cast from outside hand and turns the stockpile into immediate pressure — an aggressive Kennen, which fits the run the champion has been having in the Vendetta meta.

The productTwo boxes, two exclusives

The Gift of the Rift Bundle is the set built for the game’s first birthday, announced by Riot on August 3: 16 booster packs (three each of Origins, Spiritforged, Unleashed and Vendetta, four of Radiance), 36 foil basic runes, 100 sleeves, a 2,000-card storage box and one alt-art promo. It lands on December 4, 2026 and, unlike the event-tied products, goes through normal distribution: local game stores and mass retailers.

Kennen, Heart of the Tempest

VEN 155a/166 SC, art by Zhongqi Li. Exclusive to the Chinese market: over here, imports only.

Riot did say from day one that the Chinese exclusive would be a Kennen — «there is a Chinese language version of this product which has its own exclusive Kennen promo» — without showing either the art or the text. It is the same two-track approach already used for the Secret Garden gift box: parallel products, different exclusives for the two markets.

Why it matters here. Anyone in Italy saving up for the holiday bundle now knows what will not be in their box: the promo landing in Italian stores is the Akali, while the Kennen only turns up if you import the Chinese version. Worth knowing before the secondary market starts pricing it, exactly as it did with the Chinese exclusives of earlier products — and worth being wary, for now, of anyone already taking preorders as if it were confirmed.

  • Image circulated by r/riftboundtcg and Riftbound Report; Riot has not published it on Western official channels.
  • The bundle releases December 4, 2026 at local stores and mass retail; in Italy with the Akali promo.
