Five unseen cards in the HEARTSTEEL video, and Riot isn't saying

HEARTSTEEL's new track, Live My Life, went up this morning on the official League of Legends channel. In the closing shots, sitting on a laundromat table, you can make out five Riftbound cards wearing artwork nobody has seen before: Kayn, Ezreal, Aphelios, Sett and K'Sante in full Heartsteel dress. Riot has not presented them as previews, and the video is nowhere in the official schedule for the Radiance preview season, which opens on September 25 in Los Angeles.

The videoThe cards show up during the credits

The track runs two minutes and fifty-three seconds and brings together Anderson .Paak, BAEKHYUN, Connor Price and Nic D. Riot's own description names the cast one by one: «ezreal, sett, yone, k'sante, aphelios, and yep. even kayn». Six champions, all of them Heartsteel, who end the video gathered around a table.

The cards are on that table, and they are not decorative doodles: cost in the top-left corner, type line, text box, collector line along the bottom — the exact anatomy of a printed Riftbound card. Within an hour three separate r/riftboundtcg threads had frozen the same frames, opened by u/HellLizard, u/Brave_Marsupial_9903 and u/heyjonwin.

The tellKayn keeps the rules, not the artwork

The most readable card is Kayn's, and it is also the one that gives the most away. Cost 6, a type line reading «Champion Unit · Kayn · Ionia», the Ganking keyword and the line «If I have moved twice this turn, I don't take damage». Word for word, those are the rules of Kayn, Unleashed, the rare printed in Origins at 189/298.

Everything else has moved. The illustration spills across the whole card instead of sitting in its frame, the background is pink with lightning bolts and sticker graphics, the flavour line is no longer «I will survive eternity. They will die today», and the bottom line differs from the Origins one. u/heyjonwin reads that numbering as the giveaway for Overnumbered cards from the new set; the frames are too soft to read the digits with any confidence, so we are not quoting them.

What an ON is

Overnumbered: an existing card reprinted with different art and a number above the set total. Sett, The Boss is 310 of 298; Ezreal, Prodigal Explorer is 248 of 221. Same rules, collector rarity.

worth noting

The K'Sante case

Our card archive has no K'Sante at all: not one card, in any set. If that yellow cost-5 card is his, it would not be a reprint but his Riftbound debut.

The scheduleRiot had promised something for today

The timing is loud. In the preview-season article published hours earlier, Riot wrote that «every concert needs a great opening act» and put September 18 at the top of the calendar: a few previews before the main show, though it pointed at the LCS and LEC broadcasts. The music video is not on that list, and no Riot channel has tied those cards to Radiance.

The real flood is a week away: Friday September 25 at 3pm Pacific, the panel at the Los Angeles Regional Qualifier formally opens preview season for Set 5.

Why this matters to us. If these really are Radiance Overnumbered cards, they land straight in the hands of players here: ONs come out of the set's own packs and circulate in Italian shop binders from day one, and four of these five are reprints of cards plenty of people already run. Collectors can keep an eye on the base versions, since an incoming alternate art usually moves the market; players need to change nothing, the rules stay exactly as they are.

The short version

  • HEARTSTEEL's Live My Life, out today, shows five Riftbound cards with artwork never seen before.
  • The Kayn card carries the exact rules of Origins' Kayn, Unleashed, but with full-card art and a different collector line.
  • The community reads them as Radiance Overnumbered cards; Riot has not said so, and the video is not on the official preview list.
  • The real previews begin on September 25 at the Los Angeles Regional Qualifier.
