Giorgia Falci reveals Hunters’ Circle, the new Radiance battlefield

Hunters' Circle, Radiance battlefield revealed by Giorgia Falci

This morning Italian streamer Giorgia Falci posted her first Radiance preview on Instagram: Hunters’ Circle, a battlefield, card 163/167 of the set. The text is a single line: for each player, the first unit or gear they play here on their turn costs 1 energy less. It is an authorised preview with the official card image, and Giorgia paired it with two worked examples. I go through them one at a time below, in plain words.

Until Radiance releases
in …

The cardWhat Hunters’ Circle does

A battlefield is one of the landscape cards in the middle of the table: units move onto it to hold it and score. Hunters’ Circle has no one-off trigger. It is a standing rule, for both players, for as long as the battlefield is in play.

The rule: the first unit or gear you play onto Hunters’ Circle on your turn costs 1 energy less. Only the first card, only on your own turn, and only if you play it straight there (moving a unit in from somewhere else does not count). From the second card on, you pay full price. The discount works for your opponent on their turn too: it is a symmetrical battlefield, and whoever uses it better comes out ahead.

The art is by Fish Art Studio and shows a hunters’ camp in front of a huge carcass, in a red canyon: an Ixtal setting, Rengar’s homeland. That is no accident, as the first example shows.

The card’s vocabulary, in plain words
TermWhat it means
BattlefieldA landscape card in the middle of the table. You hold it by keeping units on it; whoever controls it scores.
Unit / GearA unit is a character that fights; gear is an item that stays in play. These are the two card types the discount applies to.
EnergyThe number in the white circle, top left. You pay it by exhausting runes. Hunters’ Circle takes 1 off that number.
Playing “here”Putting the card straight onto this battlefield as it leaves your hand. Moving a unit that was already in play does not count.
ShowdownThe fight that opens when both players have units on the same battlefield. During a showdown you can play surprise cards.
AmbushKeyword on a unit that can be played as a reaction, by surprise, to a battlefield where you already have units.
LegionKeyword: the card costs less if you have already played another card this turn.
HiddenA card you pay for in advance and place face down, to play later for free, even on your opponent’s turn.

Example 1Rengar on turn 2: three cards from four runes

Giorgia’s first example runs Rengar, Pridestalker as the Legend: whenever you play a unit, a unit of your choice gets +1 Might for the turn. It is turn 2, four runes available, and on turn 1 we already played Irresistible Faefolk, the little 2-cost unit that, when it moves to a battlefield, can drag an enemy unit along with it.

Here is the sequence. We move the Faefolk onto Hunters’ Circle and pull the opponent’s Mutated Mouser in with it: a showdown opens. In the showdown we play Grim Apothecary straight onto the battlefield, which it can do because it has Ambush. The Apothecary costs 3, but it is the first unit played there this turn: we pay 2. And since we played a unit, Rengar hands out +1 Might to whoever we like.

It is not over. When the Apothecary enters, it can return a friendly unit from a battlefield to hand: we pick the Faefolk back up, its job done. With the two runes left we play Noxus Hopeful, a 4-cost with Legion: having already played another card this turn, it costs 2. Three cards on turn 2 from four runes, and a 4-Might unit on the battlefield. The slides also show Rengar, Trophy Hunter, another Ambush unit, which would land for 4 instead of 5 with this battlefield.

Example 2Vex on turn 4: Astral Heron for 6 and Sona for 2

The second example runs Vex, Gloomist, the Calm/Chaos Legend, on turn 4 with eight runes. Here the discount lands a big card: Astral Heron costs 7, and on Hunters’ Circle it costs 6. The Heron has an effect that fits neatly: when you play your first card each turn, if it is at a battlefield, your next card costs 2 energy and 2 power less.

So Sona, Harmonious, normally 4 energy and 1 power, comes in for 2. And Sona at a battlefield readies up to four runes at the end of the turn. With what is left, Giorgia says, you can also set down a Hidden card such as Zhonya’s Hourglass.

The payoff comes on the opponent’s turn. The Heron’s effect works there too: the first card we play is the Hidden one, which costs nothing, and the card after it gets the 2-energy, 2-power discount. A Rebuke or a Switcheroo, which cost exactly 2 and 2, go out for free. Hunters’ Circle did one thing in this whole sequence, shaving 1 off the Heron, but without that 1 the chain never starts.

Who she isGiorgia Falci and the creator previews

Giorgia Falci is a streamer from Rome, on Twitch since 2021, best known for Teamfight Tactics. “Here is my first Radiance spoiler,” she writes in the post: Riot entrusted the card to her for the preview, as it has been doing since September 25 with creators worldwide. Her verdict is clear: “a battlefield that is useful for lots of decks, Rengar-style decks above all.” The post is a seven-slide carousel with the two examples above.

One detail worth noting: the card is not on the official Riftbound site yet. The image is the official one (collector number, studio credit and Riot copyright are printed on the card), but until Riot publishes it on its own channels it stays marked as unconfirmed in our spoiler grid, like every preview that comes from creators and the community.

Why it matters here. Radiance reaches Italian stores with Pre-Rift events from October 16 to 22 and goes on sale on the 23rd. Hunters’ Circle is easy to read and easy to play: no condition, no timing to remember, a flat discount on the first card. It is the kind of card you can judge at a glance at prerelease, and decks packed with cheap units (Rengar, Noxus, the Ambush crowd) will enjoy it from turn one. And for once, Italian players saw the new card first, on the profile of a creator from home.
