Kennen wins 60% in Los Angeles — and 85% against Jayce

Kennen, Heart of the Tempest Riftbound Legend card, Showcase version

With day 1 of the Los Angeles Regional Qualifier in the books, the match data tells a different story from the registration sheet. Kennen, Heart of the Tempest finished at a 60% win rate across 921 games, the best mark among the top decks, and took 85% of its head-to-head games against Jayce, Defender of Tomorrow. Irelia is still the most played Legend but sits at 54%, with Jayce at 51%. The figures come from a tracking-app screenshot posted on r/riftboundtcg by u/nic_bolas: they are not official Riot numbers.

Going in, the snapshot of the field said no Legend cleared 9% of the entries and that Irelia, Blade Dancer was the most common pick. After a day of actual games, the win-rate table looks nothing like it: Kennen, Heart of the Tempest leads at 60%, while Irelia — who played more games than anyone else, 965 of them — lands at 54%.

The heaviest number belongs to Jayce, Defender of Tomorrow. It was the surprise of the pre-Regional and it is still the third most registered deck on day 1, but on the table it finished at 51%, essentially a coin flip. Anyone who picked it expecting a structural edge did not get one.

Head to headKennen beats Jayce 85 times out of 100

The matchup matrix explains where Kennen's 60% comes from. Against Jayce the result is off the chart: 85% across 72 games, barely ten losses in the whole day. Kennen sits at 63% against LeBlanc, Deceiver over 72 games, 55% against Irelia over 93, and 60% against Akali, Rogue Assassin over 41. The only deck holding the line is Rengar, Pridestalker, dead even at 50% across 51 games.

Jayce collects its points elsewhere: 61% against Rengar and 78% against Akali. Against the other three top picks it is underwater — 41% versus Irelia, 41% versus LeBlanc, 15% versus Kennen. That is the profile of a deck that punishes the long tail of the field and pays the bill at the top tables, which is exactly where Kennen tends to be.

The outlierVex at 56%, just not against the top two

Vex, Gloomist posted the second-best mark of the day at 56% across 466 games, and its shape is the mirror image of Kennen's. It hits 79% against LeBlanc over 28 games and 61% against Rengar, but it stalls the moment it meets the two most common decks: 37% against Irelia over 54 games, 40% against Kennen over 55. It beats almost everything except what it runs into most often at the top tables.

A caveatA screenshot, not a press release

As with the field breakdown, these numbers did not come from Riot: they are a tracking-app screenshot shared by a player on Reddit. The matrix is internally consistent — every matchup is complementary to its mirror — and the totals match the size of the event, but the data is uncertified and covers day 1 only. Sunday can move it, especially in the rows with small samples.

Why it matters to us. This is the same format played in Italian stores and the one leading to the Regional Championship in Madrid on February 5–7, 2027. The practical takeaway is simple: if you are building now, the deck to beat is not the most common one but Kennen, and a Jayce list with no plan against it is a gamble. The window for that read is short — Radiance arrives on October 23 and enters the format.
