Packed Amphitheater is the Radiance Ultimate Rare
Riot has shown off the rarest card in Radiance, and it is not a champion: it is Packed Amphitheater, a Battlefield numbered 164/167. A handful of creators got to hold it at the Radiance Creator Summit, and the official @playriftbound account posted the photo straight after — three days ahead of October 5, the date Riot itself had set for the reveal. It is the second Ultimate Rare in the game’s history and, by Riot’s own admission, the hardest one to find yet: on average it turns up in 0.025% of booster packs, roughly one pack in four thousand.
The cardWhat Packed Amphitheater actually does
It is a Battlefield: one of the locations that sit in the middle of the table and that both players fight over to score points. The printed text says Champion units stationed there get +1 Might. For anyone who started recently: champion units are the ones that represent a champion — Ekko, Seraphine, Evelynn and the rest, the ones your Legend lets you play — and they fight with one extra point of strength while they hold that location. Might is the number that decides who wins a fight: the higher it is, the harder the unit hits and the longer it survives.
The ordinary version of Packed Amphitheater had already shown up in the set gallery. What is new tonight is not the text, it is the treatment: the copy Riot showed carries a full-card iridescent finish, with shards of light cutting across the amphitheater artwork. That is the Ultimate Rare version, and that one alone is the set’s chase card.
Ultimate Rare
The top rarity step in Riftbound, sitting above Overnumbers. There is a single Ultimate Rare card per set, and not every set gets one: Radiance is only the second.
Overnumber
The special Legend versions, numbered past the set total. Radiance has all nine new Legends as Overnumbers, and they can also come with an artist signature.
The numbersOne pack in four thousand
The figures come from Riot’s own set overview. The first Ultimate Rare was the Baron Nashor from Unleashed, and Riot says that “while finding one was very exciting, it wasn’t quite as rare as we wanted it to be”. With Radiance they have tightened the tap: Packed Amphitheater is described as “our rarest Ultimate Rare yet, significantly harder to find than the Baron”.
In practice that means 0.025% of packs across the whole print run, about one in four thousand. A pack can hold at most one, and there is no guarantee in any pack, box or case. When it does appear it comes out of a single slot, the one that can also produce Rare, Epic, Alt Art, Special Alt and Overnumber cards: every Ultimate Rare pulled is one fewer special card of another kind.

The reactionPlayers were hoping for a champion
On r/riftboundtcg the thread that carried the photo pulled in dozens of comments, nearly all pointing the same way: disappointment. “Ultimate rare for a battlefield.......sadness”, writes u/Amaterasu2468. u/w1czr1923 sums up the mood: plenty of people were hoping for an Ultimate Akali or a K/DA Battlefield, while this one “I would accidentally throw in bulk if I didn’t know what it was”. Several users also questioned the finish, which looks flat in the photo — though an iridescent card shot in low light almost always photographs worse than it looks in hand, as u/Equality7252l points out.
It is worth remembering what this card is being measured against: the Baron Nashor Ultimate from Unleashed is a monster, literally, and it is what everyone pictures when they hear the word “Ultimate”. A location, however well drawn, starts that fight uphill.
Why this matters for us. Radiance lands in Italy on October 23 too, and this is the card that will set box prices in Italian stores over the first few weeks. At a 0.025% appearance rate there is no sense in cracking packs hoping to hit it: people open Radiance for the Overnumbers of the nine new Legends and for the Alt Arts, not for the Ultimate. And if you go looking for a single copy later on, keep in mind that a card this scarce has very few copies in circulation and wildly unstable prices — the opening weeks are always the worst time to buy.
