Radiance Vault: the full art promo tokens are Bomb and Gold

The Radiance Vault, the collector box landing with the set on October 23, is said to hold two promo tokens in full art treatment: Bomb and Gold. The names come from Riftbound Report, a community news account, which posted two photos of the physical cards on the morning of October 12. Back in September Riot said the Vault would contain «foil tokens» without ever saying which ones: we have the names now, and not from an official channel.

Start hereWhat a promo token actually is

A token is not a card you put in your deck. It is a marker printed like a card, and it only reaches the table when another card tells you to create it: you never draw it and you never play it from hand. What you need is a copy within reach for the moment it shows up, which is exactly why collector versions of tokens appeal to players who care about how their table looks rather than to players chasing power.

Full art means the illustration covers the whole card, with no frame around it and no grey text box cutting the picture in half. It is the same treatment as the six music-themed Alt Art Runes already announced for Radiance.

The words you need for these two cards
TermWhat it means
TokenA marker card that only enters play when another card creates it
GearA card type that sits on the table and provides an effect without fighting
BattlefieldThe contested zone: holding it is how you score
DeployPlayed straight onto a battlefield rather than into your own area
ReactionCan be used during your opponent’s turn, in response
RuneThe resource you pay your cards with

Bomb is a gear token born with Radiance. It has Deploy, so it goes straight onto a battlefield, and when it is destroyed it deals 2 damage to an enemy unit standing there, taking your other Bombs in that spot down with it. In plain terms: it does nothing while it sits, then it goes off.

It is the token produced by the set’s explosive cards, starting with Ziggs, Hexplosives Expert, who drops one per turn for a single rune of any kind, and Explosion Monkey, the 6-energy unit that plants three at once. Anyone playing those lists puts Bombs on the table every game, and owning a proper copy instead of a generic marker is precisely the point of a promo like this.

The second oneGold, the familiar face

Gold is the opposite kind of pick: it has been around since Unleashed and it shows up in Vendetta too. You sacrifice it to add a rune, and you can do it as a Reaction, meaning on your opponent’s turn as well; the card text spells out that abilities adding resources cannot be reacted to. Think of it as one rune set aside for the moment you need one card more than you can pay for.

It is one of the most frequently played tokens in the game, in any deck and any colour, and that is almost certainly why it was chosen: a promo that is useful to everybody rather than to one archetype.

new

Bomb

A Radiance gear token. Goes onto a battlefield and, when it dies, deals 2 damage to an enemy unit there.

returning

Gold

A gear token around since Unleashed. Sacrifice it, even as a Reaction, to add a rune.

The productWhat the Vault holds

Riot already presented the Vault in the Radiance overview published on September 25. This is the announced content, with today’s new piece of information sitting in the last row.

A caveatHow solid this is

There is one source and it is not Riot. Both images are close-up shots of cards held in someone’s hand rather than promotional art: the name, the «Token Gear» line and the rules text are readable, but the collector number stays blurred, which is why we are not quoting it. The official site still lists nothing more specific than «foil tokens» under the Vault. So we are treating both names as unconfirmed and we will update this article the moment Riot puts them in writing.

Why it matters to us. In Italy the Vault is pre-ordered through the shops that carry Riftbound, and release day is eleven days out: knowing what is inside is the difference between reserving one and walking past it. If you play the explosive Radiance lists, Bomb is a token you will put down in nearly every game, and this is so far the only collector version announced. If you only collect, Gold is the most played token in the game and a full art copy gets noticed on any table.

The short version

  • According to Riftbound Report, the Radiance Vault’s full art promo tokens are Bomb and Gold.
  • Bomb is the set’s new gear token, the one Ziggs and Explosion Monkey create; Gold is the rune token that has been around since Unleashed.
  • Riot has not confirmed it: the official page still only says «foil tokens». The Vault arrives with the set on October 23.
