Five sealed Korean T1 boxes in one photo, one listed at $4,000

A screenshot posted on r/riftboundtcg has reopened the argument over how the T1 2025 Worlds Champion Signature Edition was distributed. The image shows a sales listing asking $4,000 for a single sealed Korean copy, with four more identical boxes stacked behind it. The official Korean price is ₩500,000; the English version sells for $360. Riot has not commented.

The threadFive boxes in a single photo

The post is titled “One per person riot said” and was opened by u/TheZeusEnjoyer on the morning of September 17. The argument is straightforward: League of Legends players with ten-year-old accounts and Riftbound players with several Nexus Nights behind them never got near a box, while resellers appear to hold more than one. The author closes by asking whether that is something Riot can be asked to act on.

The evidence is a single image: a screenshot of a listing reading “WTS 1x Korea T1 Riftbound sealed @ $4000”, above a photo of five Korean boxes stacked on a table. The screenshot cannot tell you whether those five copies all came from the official sale or were themselves bought from winners. That is the limit of the document, and it is exactly where the thread split in two.

The numbers10,125 copies per language, one serialized card out of 2,025

The official figures are in Riot's own announcement of the collection. The Signature Edition exists in English, Chinese and Korean, and 10,125 copies were made for each language. The number is not arbitrary: every box contains a serialized card numbered from 1 to 2,025, the year of T1's Worlds win, carrying a gold-stamped player signature and a foiling effect built for the set.

Games Time Pavia — official sponsor

There is a detail the thread tends to skip. In that same announcement Riot writes that the English version would be sold through a drawing on the Riot Merch store, while the “Chinese and Korean versions will be handled separately in-region”. The three rollouts did not run on identical rules, and the boxes in the screenshot are Korean.

The repliesBots, collectors and the people who open for grading

Nobody in the comments defends the price, but most of them push back on the reading. u/MasterHedgemon says the English drawing was handled well, with roughly two million entry logs and hundreds of thousands of automated accounts thrown out, and adds that the Korean round reportedly did not have the same protections in place. u/Daydreamer1015 argues that people photographed with a stack of boxes usually buy them from winners in order to open them, grade the cards and auction them off one at a time, and puts English copies at around $2,000 in the first weeks against $6,000–7,000 today. u/PollutionSad8867 points out that an annual T1 membership allowed a direct purchase without entering any drawing at all.

All of that is user testimony, not verified data: Riot has never published a figure for bot entries removed, and the secondary-market prices quoted in the thread are not backed by a price list. Read them as what they are — an account from people who trade in that market.

Why it matters for us. The Signature Edition never reached Italy through a local channel: anyone who wants one finds it on the secondary market, at the prices in that screenshot. But the reason this thread matters even to readers who will never spend $4,000 is different. A drawing with a one-per-person cap is the same model used for Vendetta 2.0 and for the bundles landing in Europe. It only works if the cap is enforced, and arguments like this one are a decent thermometer for how much trust it still has.
