What happenedOne year since the first set
On October 31 Riot posted a thank-you note to the community — “thank you for being part of Riftbound’s first year” — and opened a contest alongside it. The date is not random: according to community news account Riftbound Report, it is the anniversary of Origins, the game’s first set, reaching English-language shelves.
To enter you leave a top-level comment under the official @PlayRiftbound post on Instagram, X, Facebook or YouTube, answer the prompt with your favourite memory, add the hashtag #Riftbound1Year and repost or share the post. One entry per person across every platform: write two comments and only the first one is judged. Replies to other people’s comments do not count.
The prizeTwo official versions that disagree
Here is a number that does not add up, and we are reporting it as we found it. The official artwork and Riot’s post list a full bundle: 1 Origins booster display, 3 Origins Champion Decks (Jinx, Viktor and Lee Sin) with three matching card sleeve packs, 1 Origins playmat and 1 Riot Buff Card. The official rules published on that same page, under “Prizes”, describe a single item: “one (1) Riftbound Origins Booster Display”, with an approximate retail value of $119.
Both versions come from the same channel at the same moment (19:00 UTC for the page, 19:02 for the post) and no correction has followed. In a dispute the legal text is what counts, and it promises less than the picture does. If Riot clarifies, we will update this article.

The rulesNot a draw, a judged contest
It works differently from the K/DA: Couture Collection drawing that closed on Friday, where you filled in a form and a name was pulled at random. The rules here state plainly that this is “a contest of skill, not chance”: after the deadline Riot’s social team reads every valid entry and picks one on three published criteria — creativity (50%), originality (25%) and relevance to the anniversary theme (25%). Ties go to the higher creativity score.
The rest of the requirements: 18 or older, a public account on the platform you use, a comment written in English or French, and open direct messages. The prize ships only to an address in the United States or Canada.

CarefulThe fake accounts always follow
In a second post Riot warns about impersonators: the winner will be contacted only from the official @PlayRiftbound account, and the rules state that Riot will never ask for payment or financial information. Clone profiles always show up under posts like this one, sliding a “you won” into direct messages and then asking for shipping fees. If you do not live in North America you cannot have won anything, so that message is a scam by definition.
Why it matters here. #Riftbound1Year will circulate on Italian feeds for a week and the post reads as if it were open to everyone: the geographic limit lives only in the linked rules. Knowing that in advance saves you writing an entry nobody will judge, and makes the fake “congratulations, you won” easy to spot. The anniversary itself belongs to everyone: in twelve months Riftbound has gone from one set to five, with Radiance out on October 23.
The short version
- Riot is celebrating Riftbound’s first year with an official giveaway running until November 7, 12:00 PM PT.
- You enter with a comment under the official post, the #Riftbound1Year hashtag and a repost.
- The rules restrict it to the US and Canada, Quebec excluded: you cannot win from Italy.
- Post and artwork promise a display, three Champion Decks, a playmat and a Riot Buff Card; the rules mention only the $119 display.
- Riot contacts the winner from @PlayRiftbound alone and never asks for money: anything else is an attempted scam.
