The kitWhat is inside the box
A Pre-Rift is the official prerelease night: participating stores run the new set a week before it hits shelves, and everyone who signs up gets a box to build a deck from on the spot. For Legacy, per the material posted, that box holds four things.
| 1 region-themed packet | Cards picked in advance around one of the six regions, not random |
| 2 Legends | The champion cards that lead a deck: two guaranteed, not one |
| 5 Legacy booster packs | Ordinary set packs, opened on the night |
| 2 stamped promos | Cards carrying the prerelease stamp, available only here |
The six versions of the box are Noxus, Ionia, Freljord, Bilgewater, Piltover & Zaun and Demacia, each with its own stained-glass crest on the front. What the material does not say is whether you pick your region at the table or are handed one: at Radiance there was no choosing, and until Riot speaks we do not know.
The comparisonHow Radiance did it
Back in October, at the Radiance Pre-Rift, every player opened five packs plus a pre-built fifteen-card packet assembled around one of the set's nine Legends — which one you got, you found out by opening the box. The five packs were there to reach the twenty-five-card minimum a deck needs to be legal on those nights.
One champion
A 15-card packet around one Legend out of nine, plus 5 packs. No promo inside the kit.
One region
A region packet out of six, 2 guaranteed Legends, 5 packs and 2 stamped promos.
Two differences really count. First, guaranteed Legends go from one to two, and holding two changes the night entirely: you choose which to build on instead of living with the one you drew. Second, promos move inside the kit. At Radiance the sign-up promo — Heimerdinger, Academy Instructor — was handed out separately while supplies lasted; here the box lists two stamped cards among its contents.
Around itWhat else changes in the set, per the same source
In the same post Riftbound Report lists three more Legacy changes: a new card template, meaning a redrawn frame; draft-focused card design, draft being the format where you open packs at the table and pass cards one at a time; and the change to booster pack contents, which we covered separately — from set 6 one slot would be reserved for a Legend or a Battlefield. That change is exactly what explains the two Legends in the kit: if every pack brings a Legend or a Battlefield, five packs are enough to hold a real deck together.
The usual caution applies: there is one source and it is not Riot. The images are complete, credible product renders, and the account has been right repeatedly in recent weeks, but there is no official announcement. Legacy is Riftbound's sixth set, code LGC, 239 cards, out on January 29, 2027, and legal at the Madrid Regional Championship on February 5-7.
Why it matters to us. The Pre-Rift is the moment Italian players step into a new set together, and for many it is the one night a year they play from freshly opened packs rather than a built deck. Knowing in advance that the box holds two Legends and two stamped promos helps you decide whether the entry fee is worth it: two Legends are enough to build a genuine deck with nothing else from the set, and stamped cards are the only way to own them. Dates to note: January 22-28 for the nights, January 29 for release.
