Update, October 30. The correct date is the one on the event site: the stop is played on November 28-29. Delta 1 Esports, the organizer, confirmed it to me, and Riot will soon correct the November 21 date on the Riftbound Organized Play calendar.
On the calendarThe row that was missing
The Showdown Series is the circuit Riot and UVS hand to partner organizers: events for a few hundred players, smaller than a Regional Qualifier, that still open a road to the Regional Championship. The table on Riftbound Organized Play is the list of sanctioned stops, and that is why it matters: until a date shows up there, the event is something the organizer has announced on its own.
The page was updated on October 29 and now carries three new rows: Los Angeles (Gen.G Esports) on November 21, Budapest (Delta 1 Esports, World Mall) on November 21, and Mexico City (Sang Sang) on December 19. Budapest is the last European stop of 2026, after Lucca, Bristol, Malmö, Murcia and Gdańsk; Mexico closes the season.
The two datesA week apart
This is not pedantry: book the wrong weekend and the flight is gone.
November 21
The schedule table on Riftbound Organized Play, updated on October 29.
November 28-29
Delta 1 Esports repeats it four times: page title, hero, programme and FAQ.
There is a possible explanation, but it doesn't hold. The calendar lists a single day per stop even when the event runs a whole weekend: Orlando appears as October 31 for a tournament played on the 31st and November 1, Melbourne as October 24 for a weekend that ran from the 23rd to the 25th. In those cases, though, the printed day falls inside the event. Not here: November 21 sits a full week before the weekend the tickets are being sold for.
On October 30 Delta 1 Esports confirmed to me that the date on its site, November 28-29, is the right one, and that Riot will correct the calendar soon. The obvious advice stands: check once more before buying a flight you cannot refund.
The numbersTier II is unlocked
The second piece of news is friendlier. Budapest's prizing grows in steps with the number of players signed up. On October 28 only the 128-attendee threshold was marked as unlocked; today there are two. A Regional Championship invite is a guaranteed seat at the continental event, the big one like Stuttgart; a Competitor Pass is paid entry to a Regional Qualifier of your choice. Tier II makes that two invites and eight passes, twice what it was.
The same update added a FAQ on the Plated Legend, the metal-printed Legend you win by going "Best-Of" — finishing first among everyone who played that same Legend. You receive the copy matching the Legend you played, and only from the three most recent sets.
| Attendees | What it unlocks | Status |
|---|---|---|
| 128 | Tier III · 1 RC invite, 4 Competitor Passes | unlocked |
| 256 | Tier II · 2 RC invites, 8 Competitor Passes | just unlocked |
| 400 | Prize pool raised to 70+ displays | not yet |
| 512 or more | Tier I · 4 RC invites, 16 Competitor Passes | not yet |
Why it matters for us. Budapest is the last European stop of 2026 and the easiest one to reach from Italy: barely two hours in the air, against the intercontinental trips the rest of the calendar asks for. Passes went on sale on October 28, cannot be refunded and can only be transferred to someone else, so a week's difference on the date means a different flight and a different hotel. And with Tier II unlocked the trip is worth more: two Regional Championship invites are now guaranteed, and above 512 players they would become four.
The short version
- Budapest has joined the official Showdown Series calendar, alongside Los Angeles (November 21) and Mexico City (December 19).
- The event is on November 28-29: the organizer confirmed it, and Riot will correct the November 21 date on the calendar.
- Past 256 attendees: Tier II unlocked, two Regional Championship invites and eight Competitor Passes. At 400 the prize pool climbs past 70 displays.
