The changeOne Common fewer, one Legend more
Legends are the cards you build a deck around: every deck runs one, and it decides which colours you are allowed to play. Battlefields are the locations in the middle of the table that you fight over to score points. Up to Radiance, neither category had a guaranteed home in a pack: they turned up mixed in with everything else, in the Rare and Uncommon slots, and you could easily crack a whole pack without seeing either.
From set 6, according to the breakdown, slot 10 belongs to them alone and works like a coin flip: half the time an Uncommon Battlefield, half the time a Rare Legend. A Common card foots the bill — the chart shows six Common slots, where Radiance has seven today.
| Slots 1-6 | Common (six cards) |
| Slots 7-9 | Uncommon (three cards) |
| Slot 10 | Uncommon Battlefield or Rare Legend — the new slot |
| Slot 11 | Foil Common, Foil Uncommon or Rare |
| Slot 12 | Rare |
| Slot 13 | Rare, Epic, Showcase Alt Art or Showcase Overnumbered |
| Slot 14 | Token, Common Rune or Showcase Alt Art |
The comparisonWhat a Radiance pack looks like today
The comparison is what shows how much this actually moves. A Radiance pack, as Riot describes it on the set's official page, holds fourteen cards: seven Commons, three Uncommons, one foil, one Rare or Epic, one card that can climb all the way to the Ultimate Rare, and one of token, Rune or Alt Art Rune. We laid it out in our Radiance release article.
Radiance
Seven Commons, three Uncommons. Legends and Battlefields have no slot of their own: they share the Rare and Uncommon slots with everything else.
Legacy
Six Commons, three Uncommons. The freed slot becomes fixed: a Battlefield or a Legend, in every single pack.
The wordsWhat the labels on the chart mean
| Legend | The champion card that leads the deck and sets the colours you may use. One per deck. |
| Battlefield | The location on the table you fight over to score points. |
| Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic | The rarities, from most to least printed. |
| Foil | The shiny, reflective version of the same card. |
| Showcase Alt Art | The same card with different artwork, filling the whole face. |
| Showcase Overnumbered | A collector variant numbered beyond the set count: the same card, not an extra one. |
| Rune | The card in the separate little deck that produces the energy to play everything else. |
The doubtsTwo things the chart does not say
First: there is no Ultimate Rare on the chart, the ultra-scarce card that Riot puts in roughly one Radiance pack in four thousand. That does not mean it is gone — a slot-by-slot chart may simply not go down to that level — it means we do not know yet.
Second, a line from Riftbound Report itself: the change should let players "get two playable Rare cards in every pack". Reading the slots, that only adds up by counting 12 and 13. The new slot does not guarantee a Rare, because half the time it is an Uncommon Battlefield. Worth knowing if you were expecting two Rares for certain.
And above all of it: there is one source and it is not Riot. Riftbound Report is a community account, not an official channel, and it has been right often in recent weeks — but until pack contents show up on playriftbound.com or in a Riot announcement, treat these numbers as a preview.
Why it matters to us. In Italy Legacy will be played in English, like Radiance, and a box will cost what it costs. What changes is what it returns: if every pack really does bring a Legend or a Battlefield, assembling what you need at the table — including the twelve Legends announced for set 6 — gets cheaper than it is now, whether you buy singles packs or open boxes. Anyone heading to a Pre-Rift night between January 22 and 28 opens five packs: under this scheme that is five Legends and Battlefields, enough to build a real deck instead of hoping.
The short version
- From Legacy, every pack would have a dedicated slot: Uncommon Battlefield or Rare Legend, fifty-fifty.
- The slot comes out of a Common: seven down to six. Uncommons stay at three.
- No Ultimate Rare appears on the chart, and the source is a single community account: Riot has not confirmed it.
- Legacy releases January 29, 2027, with Pre-Rift events from January 22 to 28.
