Orlando day one: three players still perfect, Kha'Zix on top

Kha'Zix, Voidreaver, the Legend leading day one of the Orlando Showdown Series

NewsCompetitiveby Riccardo Emanuele Eustor · Riftbound Zone

The $25,000 Showdown Series in Orlando has wrapped seven rounds of Saturday swiss, and three players are still undefeated. Leading the pack is LURK xSimo with Kha'Zix, Voidreaver — a Legend only thirteen players brought to the event. Behind him sit MERC Koopastar on Riven, The Exile and Vinnie on Rengar, Pridestalker. Sunday brings four more rounds and then the cut to Top 8, all of it overnight for European viewers.

The standingsWho has not lost yet

This is swiss pairing: nobody is knocked out, and every round you face someone on your own score. Saturday ran seven of those rounds and three players came out of them without dropping a match. One caveat before you read the table: these standings are rebuilt by zero.gg from the results reported table by table, and the site itself flags them as provisional until the UVS platform validates them. From fifth place down everyone sits on eighteen points, so the order depends on tiebreakers and can still move a place or two.

The surpriseKha'Zix, thirteen decks in the whole room

The player on top is not on the deck everyone registered. Kha'Zix, Voidreaver (UNL-201/219) is an Unleashed Legend, from the set that landed a year ago, and exactly thirteen players sleeved it up in Orlando against eighty-seven on Riven. Its text is a small engine that fuels itself: "when you win a combat, gain 1 XP; spend 1 XP and exhaust to [Buff] a unit; spend 2 XP and exhaust to move an exhausted friendly unit from a battlefield back to its base".

In plain terms: every fight you win drops a counter on the Legend, and those counters either pump a creature or pull it back home in one piece instead of leaving it out there to die. It is not a deck that blows the game open in a single turn — it just gets a little stronger every time it wins an exchange. And one player out of thirteen is a name at the top of a standings page, not a statistic: it does not make the Legend good on its own.

most played

Riven: 87 decks

Four of the top twelve names. Still the most registered Legend and the most common one up top — but no longer the only one.

rarest up top

Kha'Zix: 13 decks

One of those thirteen players went 7-0 and sits first in the provisional standings.

The numbersRiven holds, but not alone

Riven, The Exile was 16.4% of the field at round two and is still the most registered Legend, with eighty-seven decks counted by zero.gg. At the top of the standings, though, it does not sweep: the top twelve hold four Riven, two Jayce, Defender of Tomorrow — a Legend that did not even make the ten most played — plus Kennen, Rengar, Vex, Kai'Sa, Diana and the Kha'Zix in first. That is the opposite picture to Sacramento a week ago, where four of the eight players at the cut were on Riven.

The attendance figure deserves a note, because the official sources disagree. The UVS platform showed 556 players once the event was under way, while zero.gg, which reads that same platform, counts 592 and lists 526 actually at the tables. Either way the field clears 512, the threshold that puts the event in Tier I of the Showdown Series.

The words you need to read the standings
TermWhat it means
SwissNobody is eliminated: each round you play someone on your score. Here it is seven rounds Saturday and four on Sunday.
7-0-0Seven wins, no losses, no draws. A draw happens when time runs out and nobody has closed the game.
Tiebreakers (OMW%)The average win rate of the opponents you faced; it sorts players sitting on the same score.
XPThe counters Kha'Zix banks by winning combats and then spends on its abilities.
Tier IThe top bracket of the Showdown Series, 512 players and up: four Regional Championship invites and sixteen Regional Qualifier passes.

SundayFour rounds, then the Top 8

Day two runs four more swiss rounds before the cut to the top eight, who play the title out in single elimination. Prize money reaches down to 32nd place, Regional Championship invites go to the top four and Regional Qualifier passes to the top sixteen. The Sunday start time has not been published and there is no official broadcast: the organizer points to @RiftboundOP on X for updates. Everything else about the weekend is in our complete Orlando guide.

Why it matters to us. Orlando is the last official 500-plus player tournament before the Stuttgart Regional Championship on November 6-8, where Italian players will be sitting down too. Anyone who has to submit a decklist by November 4 is reading these standings to work out whether Riven is actually mandatory. Saturday's answer is no — but it is still the Legend you have to know how to beat.

The short version

  • Seven Saturday rounds are done and three players are still perfect: Kha'Zix, Riven and Rengar.
  • LURK xSimo leads on Kha'Zix, Voidreaver — thirteen decks in the entire event against eighty-seven Riven.
  • Sunday brings four more rounds and the Top 8, with no published start time and no official stream.
