Vendetta errata: the 8 updated cards and what actually changes

Alongside Vendetta's launch, Riot published an errata package covering eight cards across three sets: three from Spiritforged, two from Unleashed and three from Vendetta itself. Don't panic: no card changes in power — these are text corrections that write down how the cards were already meant to be played, closing the ambiguities that kept generating table rulings. But if you play any of these eight, the new wording is now the one that counts.

Official errata published by Riot on July 23, 2026 on playriftbound.com, effective with Vendetta's arrival and the updated Core Rules.

The common thread is templating clean-up: effect durations made explicit («this turn»), conditions rewritten in the standard «pay to do X» form, keywords slotted in where a manual description used to sit. It's the same rules-clarity effort Riot has promised to bring fully online with 2027's Legacy set, which debuts revised templating across all new cards.

The Vendetta cardsExplicit durations, clear windows

The three new-set errata matter most at the table. Astral Heron is the big one: the Mount Targon bird's 2-Energy, 2-rune discount applies to the next card played in the same turn — no «banking» discounts for later turns. On Gangplank, Naval, the +3 might that replaces a stun, −might or bounce lasts until end of turn, like every temporary buff. Resonating Strike gets its Reaction window reworded to match the language of the updated Core Rules.

The Astral Heron card (VEN 044/166) from Riftbound Vendetta, updated by the errata
Astral Heron — VEN 044/166 · 7 cost / 7 might. The first-card discount is now explicitly limited to the current turn.
The Gangplank, Naval card (VEN 086/166) from Riftbound Vendetta, updated by the errata
Gangplank, Naval — VEN 086/166 · 6 cost. The Empowered ability's replacement +3 might lasts for the turn.
The Resonating Strike card (VEN 034/166) from Riftbound Vendetta, updated by the errata
Resonating Strike — VEN 034/166 · 2 cost. The Reaction play window has been reworded.
The Draven, Vanquisher card (SFD 020/221) from Riftbound Spiritforged, updated by the errata
Draven, Vanquisher — SFD 020/221. The +2 might bought with [C] now says «this turn».

The older setsSpiritforged and Unleashed fall in line

The remaining five errata tidy up the earlier sets. Fizz, Trickster moves to the leaner «Then recycle it» for the copied spell; Emperor's Dais and Diana, Lunari adopt the standard «pay the cost to do X» construction in place of the old «if you do»; and Stalking Wolf finally uses the [Ambush] keyword instead of describing the effect in prose — the wolf plays exactly as before, but text and keyword now match.

The Diana, Lunari card (UNL 079/219) from Riftbound Unleashed, updated by the errata
Diana, Lunari — UNL 079/219. Condition rewritten in the standard «to [Predict]» form.
The Stalking Wolf card (UNL 166/219) from Riftbound Unleashed, updated by the errata
Stalking Wolf — UNL 166/219. Now uses the [Ambush] keyword instead of a manual description.
The Fizz, Trickster card (SFD 140/221) from Riftbound Spiritforged, updated by the errata
Fizz, Trickster — SFD 140/221. Recycle sequencing simplified: «Then recycle it».
The Emperor's Dais battlefield (SFD 207/221) from Riftbound Spiritforged, updated by the errata
Emperor's Dais — SFD 207/221 (battlefield). Condition rewritten: you pay to play the 2-might Sand Soldier.

Questions & answersWhat you need to know

Do I need to replace my copies with the new ones?

No: the errata apply to every printing. In tournaments the card is played with the updated text even if your copy shows the old wording.

Did any card get stronger or weaker?

No: these are text clarifications, not balance changes. They write down how rulings already worked — for actual bans there's the ban list.

When did the errata take effect?

With Vendetta's launch (late July 2026), together with the set's updated Core Rules.

Why does Riot make these corrections?

It's part of the rules-clarity push announced for 2026-2027: uniform templating, keywords instead of prose and explicit durations. With the Legacy set (January 2027) the new standard debuts across all cards.

In short

  • 📝 Eight cards receive text errata: 3 from Spiritforged, 2 from Unleashed and 3 from Vendetta (Astral Heron, Gangplank Naval, Resonating Strike).
  • ⚖️ No power changes: explicit durations, standard conditions and integrated keywords — cards work as the rulings already said.
  • 🃏 They apply to every printing: tournaments follow the updated Oracle text, not what's on your copy.
