The contextTwo metal cards that look the same
At a Western Regional Qualifier there are two metal Legends. The Best-Of Legend is a performance prize: a single copy per Champion, for the player who finishes better than anyone else who picked that Legend. The Plated Legend from the Prize Wall is a participation prize: 40 tickets collected in the side events, one per person per weekend. The mechanism is explained in detail in our guide to metal cards.
What the official article on RQ Los Angeles spells out is that the Best-Of prize is not just any metal card: in Los Angeles there will be 33 Best-Of Foil Plated Legends taken from Spiritforged, Unleashed and Vendetta. The foil, in short, is the competitive variant.
The correctionWhat changes in Macao, Taiwan and Korea
The starting point is a message from a community member, according to whom RQ Macao and RQ Taiwan would hand out English-language Best-Of prizes while waiting for Vendetta to be released in Traditional Chinese. Sherman stepped in to clarify that English foils have nothing to do with it: at those events the non-foil English Plated Legends will be used, the ones that, in his words, are «traditionally distributed at the Prize Wall of Western Regional Qualifiers». The same rule applies to Korea at its debut.
The sentence that matters to a collector comes right after: Foil Plated Legends, Sherman writes, will only be distributed in English and Chinese, and only at the Regional Qualifiers and Championships run by UVS Games, at events on the Chinese circuit and at Worlds.

EuropeWhy the clarification affects us too
UVS Games is the partner with which Riot organises Western competitive play: the European Regional Qualifiers we have followed from Bologna to Barcelona are UVS-branded, and so is the European Regional Championship in Stuttgart, at the Messe Stuttgart from 6 to 8 November 2026. If Sherman's list is complete, for an Italian player the chances of getting their hands on a Foil Plated Legend remain those, plus Worlds for those who get there. With the Asian Regional Qualifiers outside the foil distribution, the copies in circulation each season remain tied to a narrow calendar.
Why it matters for us. Anyone in Italy chasing a metal Legend has two routes that are not interchangeable: the foil is won on the field at Western Regional Qualifiers and Championships, starting with Stuttgart; the non-foil is redeemed at the Prize Wall with side event tickets. Knowing which of the two is really up for grabs avoids setting off for an event with the wrong expectation and helps you evaluate offers in trading groups.
The caveatA clarification that isn't on the official site
It must be said: the clarification came in a reply on X, not in an article on playriftbound.com. Neither RQ Macao nor RQ Taiwan appears in the official August roadmap, which lists only Singapore and Los Angeles among the Regional Qualifiers. It should also be added that Sherman's X bio lists the Teamfight Tactics and 2XKO esports as his responsibilities, not Riftbound. Until Riot puts it in writing on an official channel, his statement remains an authoritative indication but not a source you can consult.
