The deadlineTwo days before round one
The organizer's message is addressed to "main event competitors", the players who earned their spot in the $50,000 main tournament: the list is due by Wednesday, November 4 at 11:59 PM CET. Round one starts Friday the 6th at 10:00 AM, so barely two days separate the closing of the form from the first game.
Riftbound Organized Play says it is sharing the date well ahead of time "to give everyone plenty of time to prepare", and adds that the form opens later this week. No exact day was given, so qualified players should keep an eye on their inbox and the official channels over the next few days. On everything else it is reassuring: the submission process is the same one competitors have already been through at previous Regionals, so there is no new system to learn.
The reasonOpen decklists means lists to publish
The deadline is not red tape for its own sake: it follows from a rule we covered on October 15 in Stuttgart goes open decklist. Open decklists means every player's list is public: before you sit down, you already know what deck is across the table, what it can draw, what answers it holds. To make that work the organizer has to collect every list, check them one by one and put them online before play starts — and with a main event this size that is not a few hours of work.
Hidden list
Submitted close to the event and seen only by judges. Your opponent found out by playing.
Public list
Due November 4 and published: your opponent knows what you play, and you know what they play.
That changes preparation, not just paperwork. With open lists, surprise cards are worth much less, while cards that stay strong even when the opponent knows they are coming are worth more. And above all: once it is in, that is your list. Final testing belongs before Wednesday night, not in a hotel room on Thursday.
Good to knowMain event only, not side events
This deadline covers the main tournament. Side events — the open tournaments running alongside it — have their own rules: some of the more competitive ones, such as Friday's Radiance Standard Challenge, the 2v2 Team Challenge and Saturday's Nation Clash, also require a decklist, but it is handed in on site at registration rather than by November 4. For questions about submissions, the organizer points to customerservice@uvsgames.com.
Why it matters to us. Italian players qualified for the Stuttgart main event face a real deadline between today and Wednesday night, and it falls before they travel: anyone planning to settle on a deck on the train or the night before is already late and risks being locked out. There is also a consequence for everyone staying home: with public lists, over the weekend we will know card for card what Europe's players brought — the first complete picture of the Radiance metagame after the American data from Sacramento.
The short version
- Main event decklists are due Wednesday, November 4 at 11:59 PM CET, two days before round one.
- The form opens later this week; the process is the same as at previous Regionals.
- It exists because Stuttgart is played with open decklists: every list is published before play begins.
